Hi guys,
I've been unable to make WoW work. I think some of the files might have become corrupt. My virus checker definitely isn't happy with WoW, and says it's solved the problem, but then WoW still doesn't work, and using the Repair function only made the virus return.
Anyway, I'm not going to be on WoW for an indeterminate amount of time until this is solved.
Play nicely without me.

I've reinstalled from scratch. The catch - now I have to download all the updates again.
This is going to take a while.
Be good.

Sorry to hear that. It's happened to me in the past, but worked after I did a virus/spyware scan.
Hope to see you playing soon.

So, I just reinstalled, repatched... and it's still bugged. The bugged file deleted itself, but now I have to reinstall again. And I'm not sure it'll work if I do. 'fmod.dll' is the file in question.
Sigh.

Please, someone tell me what's going on and how to fix it.

I just tried deleting absolutely everything, and reinstalling and repatching from scratch. It seems like the latest patch is what corrupts fmod.dll since it was letting me log in and download patches up until I got that one.
I've sent an email off to the Blizzard tech support crew asking for help.

Ula, this is a known issue. For sme reason. your AV software sees this file as a virus. On the forums, Blizzard suggests this: ** First, update your AV definitions. AVG has fixed this with an updated definition. Please update it now! ** -------------------------- If AVG quarantined the file and you cannot restore it, you can download a copy of fmod.dll here - ftp.blizzard.com/pub/wow/other/fmod.zip Extract that DLL into your World of Warcraft folder. Note that if AVG is still running, it may quarantine this file again. The purpose of this file is that it's a quick link to the file. You don't have to run the Repair utility and wait until it scans everything. It won't fix your AVG problem because there's nothing wrong with fmod.dll. If there's an update on the AVG situation, I'll post it here. Currently it's detecting fmod.dll incorrectly as a trojan. That means it'll find that this fmod.dll as a trojan.
